70/30 Split - Archive

70/30 Split was a collaboration between Lydia Cottrell and Sophie Unwin who made, performed, produced and curated performance works together since 2011; crafting ‘boundlessly brazen’ works which were frank, observant and accessible. Informed by a background in dance their work traversed traditional forms creating a hybrid language of performance, theatre, dance and cabaret.

They performed to audiences both regionally and nationally including Dance Base, Edinburgh, Contact Theatre, Manchester and The Place, London. They have most recently been awarded commissions from Word of Warning, Manchester and The York Theatre Royal. 70/30 split were shortlisted for the Vantage Art Prize, were the winners of The FLINTsparks prize and were listed as one of the top 5 dance moments of 2014 in the Guardian.

 Pas De Duh Cabaret

With a fondness for the satirical, the brazen and the weird 70/30 Split were continuously inspired by the history of burlesque, the music hall and the working mens club. Diving into vaudeville and the grotesque the double act create boldly audacious acts that embody a camp send-up of show business.
